More Dust on the Butterfly’s Wings

Capture the spotlight.
Fame for fame’s sake?
We need time.
Learn your side of the story.
He was a hero. Now he’s gone.
The end of days is usually a night.
Open investigation of the truth
Requires neither weapons nor fighting.
We don’t need idols anymore.
Finding information should prove possible.
Take a train to Paterson now.
You won’t find William Carlos Williams there
Except for his poetic book on the subject.
If you read well,
You should be proud of that fact
But not overly so.
You have to get home alive.
Some days this result seems less than automatic.
Bend the rules of life,
Whatever you perceive them to be.
An invasion of merit could be on its way.
Quantifying success can bring problems.
The mysteries of life and death
Will never be solved
Either by you or by me.
That’s a certainty in uncertain times and places.
Wounds that heal as soon as they arise
Are points of fiction that diction can little justify or resolve.
We have to dance sometimes.
Only some of us have to learn how.
Invent your own legacy
And stick with it if you can.

So many wonderful lines in the poem…one of my favorites was “Bend the rules of life,
Whatever you perceive them to be.”…very fine read this Saturday morning.
