Margin of Call

11 Aug

by Tom Savage

The collapse of capitalism as someone knows it
Leaves me mostly cold. It’s old, now.
And it has come back since
With more than a vengeance.
Finish what you have to do,
We tell the planet.
No doubt she will
And probably take us with it.
Worse than losing a job
As anyone sane might say.
Everything gets worse.
Nothing gets better.
No use killing anybody.
We’re all going to die.
Hold your hands high.
When your feet do the walking,
Finish what you’re doing
If you can.
Lucky for you if you can hear silence.
Most people alive now never have.
All you ever wanted to do
Is never enough.
Bury your dog in the dark
But rename him a lion before he dies.

I haven’t watched “Margin Call”, but this poems speaks volumes to me about the Gestalt of today. And it has been way too long that I’ve heard silence.
